If this, then that... and second chance

Sunset somewhere in time

There were so many time in my life that I had questioned myself, if this (if I hadn't done this), then that (things would have been better)... and I often wished to be given the second chance to redo something in better way for better outcomes. But in reality, second or third chances rarely come to anyone, and the person (including me) must face consequences of wrongdoings previously done, in pain, and sadness.

There were so many tales and movies described those second chances for the person to fix their mistakes and got happy ending. Three of the most memorable movies regarding this topic really caught me are Regarding Henry (1991), The Family Man (2000), and Sliding doors (1998). Three of these movies were not quite the same but I loved them all.

Regarding Henry (1991): told the story about a successful ruthless lawyer who got involved in unfortunate event, and lost all of his memories. Later on he changed to become a better man even though along the way there were pain, and sad moment involved.

The Family Man (2000): in short it told the story of successful businessman who chose work over his beloved one, but then one day he woke up and found that he is a father and a husband (of his ex-girlfriend that he left her over work). At first he couldn't cope with it but later on he learnt and realized that he finally found peace. But then it was all dream or miracle, he woke up again to be the same businessman, and the first thing came up to his mind was to search for his ex-girlfriend. The ending was very nice and very touching because he found her but she refused to be with him, then he followed her to airport where she was on the way out forever to another country, then he convinced her with some description of his dream, then she agreed to listen more... They probably will try to build up family like it was in his dream.

Sliding Doors (1998): this one is probably the most interesting one in my opinion, it was the story about a the same woman who either got into train in time, and another one, missed the train. Then the story told two totally different life of the same woman, had one got in the train what life would be like, and either way. The one with life that looked promising ended up sad, but the one that looked miserable throughout movie, at the end there was a hint that her life will be better definitely.

Now, looking back at myself, I had fair chance of having done all good and bad, and often thought what would outcome be if I had the second chance to do things differently. As I mentioned earlier, the second chance rarely come, if you had that then God bless you, but if not, what should you do?

Answer to myself is, try to make the best, fair and good decision in everything you do, and execute it honestly at the best attempt everytime you handle something and you must not regret of something you have decided and executed at best attempt. Just chin up, hold your head high and be proud and accept every outcome, just like Frank Sinatra's all time favorite song, My Way.

Cheers...

P.S. I am quite lucky recently that I was given the second chance to fix one of the most painful situation I've ever faced, and I promise to get it done at the best attempt.
